What is the difference between a 640 and a 320 thermal drone camera?

It comes down to pixels on target from altitude. A 320-resolution sensor lets you spot heat signatures from a moderate height, which is enough for basic survey and detection work. A 640 sensor holds detail higher and farther out, so you can identify what you are looking at rather than just confirm something is there.

Which drones are compatible with thermal payloads?

Compatibility is decided by three things: the gimbal mount, the aircraft payload capacity, and the control protocol the airframe supports. Common combinations are DJI Zenmuse mounts, Gremsy gimbals, Freefly quick release, Skydio mounts, and PX4 or ArduPilot airframes. Are thermal drone cameras NDAA compliant?
